My boss loses a tooth.
He shows me the gap. I don’t ask to see it but I don’t mind that he shows me. I think it is better to heft (or waft, depending on perspective) flaws up onto a tall thing, that we may observe and then forget them. It is better than hiding them, because hidden flaws are bound to burst forth at the most ill-timed moments.
